Francisco Liriano (3-7) struck out 11 and allowed one run on four
hits over seven innings to win back-to-back starts for the first
time this season. Neil Walker collected two hits as the Pirates
improved to 8-3 in their last 11 and pulled within one game of
first-place Milwaukee in the National League Central.
Michael Morse homered and Buster Posey had three hits for San
Francisco, which skidded to its sixth straight defeat and has scored
only six runs in that span. Tim Hudson (8-8) dropped his fourth
straight start at home, giving up three runs on six hits over seven
innings to fall to 1-6 over his last eight outings.
Harrison opened the game with an opposite-field blast off Hudson for
his first career leadoff homer. Snider followed Ike Davis' leadoff
single in the second with a shot down the right-field line for his
third homer in his last three games - albeit over a seven-day
stretch.
Morse got a run back in the bottom of the inning with a leadoff shot
that barely cleared the fence in left field and was reviewed to make
sure there was no fan interference. Liriano did not allowed a runner
past second base thereafter before Tony Watson pitched a scoreless
eighth and Mark Melancon finished up for his 20th save.

established in 2011 with Houston.
