The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Wednesday they will retire Hall of
Fame defensive tackle Joe Greene's No. 75 in a ceremony on Nov. 2
when they will host the Baltimore Ravens at Heinz Field.
Greene's number will become just the second that the Steelers
retired, joining Ernie Stautner in achieving that distinction.

The Green Bay Packers signed general manager Ted Thompson to a
multiyear contract extension Wednesday. Terms of the extension were
not disclosed.
Thompson, who also holds the titles of executive vice president and
director of football operations, is entering his 10th season as the
head of the team's football operations.

Wide receiver Josh Gordon will appeal his minimum one-year
suspension for testing positive for marijuana on Friday in New York
in front of an NFL-appointed arbitrator.
His attorney will argue Gordon did not smoke marijuana but instead
inhaled second-hand smoke which resulted in a positive test,
according to various reports.

Mark Davis, the owner of the Oakland Raiders, confirmed visiting
with San Antonio officials about relocating his team to that area.
NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello said the NFL "received no applications
from any of our teams to relocate at this point, so there is nothing
for us to respond to."

New York Giants running back David Wilson is out indefinitely and
will not play in Sunday's Hall of Fame preseason opener and his
football future is in question.
With about 10 minutes remaining in practice Tuesday, Wilson was
spotted walking off the field after suffering what coach Tom
Coughlin described as a "burner." Wilson was just cleared for
contact on July 21, the first day of training camp, after recovering
from neck surgery six months ago.

Patrick Peterson, in the discussion as the NFL's top cornerback,
received a five-year extension worth $70 million from the Arizona
Cardinals.
The extension begins in 2015 and is worth $70 million, including $48
million guaranteed, Peterson said.

Rookie Demarcus Lawrence, the Dallas Cowboys' hand-picked
replacement for DeMarcus Ware, could miss half of the regular season
with a broken foot.
Lawrence was injured Tuesday in a training camp workout at Oxnard, Calif.,
and will miss 2-3 months.

Buffalo Bills outside linebacker Nigel Bradham has been suspended for the
season opener for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, the
league announced Wednesday.
Bradham will be eligible to return to the Bills' active roster on Sept.
8 after the team's Sept. 7 game against the Chicago Bears.

The Buffalo Bills announced that running back Fred Jackson signed a
contract extension. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Jackson, 33, is the oldest running back in the NFL and the Bills
