Rockies 6, Cubs 4 (10): Brandon
Barnes knocked in the go-ahead run with a single in the 10th as visiting
Colorado avenged Tuesday's 16-inning loss.Charlie Blackmon and Michael
McKenry each had three hits and an RBI and Justin Morneau added two hits
and drove in a run for the Rockies, who won for only the second time in
their last 16 road games. Rob Scahill (1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth to
earn the win and Adam Ottavino worked around a two-out single in the
10th for his first major-league save.

Luis Valbuena homered among three hits and knocked in three runs
for the Cubs, who also got three hits from Ryan Sweeney. Wesley
Wright (0-2) gave up two runs in the 10th to suffer the loss,
allowing Barnes' tiebreaking single and throwing a wild pitch that
allowed Drew Stubbs to score.
Colorado grabbed an early 3-0 lead on Morneau's RBI single in the
first and run-scoring doubles from Charlie Culberson and Blackmon an
inning later. John Baker, Tuesday's hero, got the Cubs on the board
with an RBI double in the fifth, but the Rockies got the run back on
McKenry's run-scoring double in the sixth.
Valbuena's two-out infield single plated the Cubs' second run in the
bottom of the inning, and Chicago rallied in unlikely fashion in the
eighth. Stubbs muffed Starlin Castro's fly ball just in front of the
ivy-covered wall to keep the inning alive, and Valbuena followed by
driving a 3-2 pitch from Tommy Kahnle out to right to tie it at 4.

Anderson struck out nine and allowed two runs on 11 hits over seven
innings while Cubs LHP Travis Wood racked up a career-high 11 strikeouts
but yielded four runs and eight hits over six innings to run his winless
streak to eight starts. … The Cubs acquired LHP Felix Doubront from
Boston for a player to be named later and reportedly are close to
dealing 2B/OF Emilio Bonifacio ahead of Thursday's non-waiver trade
deadline.
