New federal guidelines that went into effect on May 21 require
anyone who operates a commercial motor vehicle to receive a physical
from a medical professional who’s certified by the Federal Motor
			Carrier Safety Administration.
The exams take about one hour. People do not need to be current
patients of Memorial Physician Services-Lincoln to receive the CDL
			exam.

“Our staff who have been certified to perform these exams have
received comprehensive training to evaluate cardiovascular disease,
respiratory and muscular functions, vision and hearing,” said Travis
Dowell, vice president of Memorial Health System.

Patients should bring a complete list of medications with
dosages, prescription glasses or contacts and their medical
history, especially for cardiac and sleep apnea, to their exams.
Four other Memorial Physician Services locations are also
offering the CDL exams. Their offices are in Jacksonville,
				Petersburg and Springfield.
