Millikin School of Music presents opening concert
for Summer Piano Camp July 7

DECATUR
- Millikin University's School of Music will present its opening
concert for the 2014 Millikin Summer Piano Camp on Monday, July 7 at
7 p.m. in Perkinson Music Center's Kaeuper Hall on Millikin's
campus. The concert is free and open to the public. |
The concert features Millikin piano faculty members Dr. Silvan
Negrutiu, assistant professor of music, and Dr. Chung-Ha Kim, School
of Music adjunct faculty member. The concert will also feature
performances from Millikin students Rachel Mudd, a junior business
management major from Decatur, Ill., and Jared Rixstine, a senior
music performance major from Washington, Ill.
Dr. Silvan Negrutiu will perform musical selections from composers
Johannes Brahms and Frédéric Chopin, while Dr. Chung-Ha Kim will
perform Robert Schumann's "Faschingsschwank aus Wien."
Jared Rixstine will perform Franz Schubert's "Impromptu in Gb Major"
followed by shared performances, alongside Rachel Mudd, of Antonin
Dvorak's "Slavonic Dances," and Randall Compton's "C. S. Theme and
Variations."
The 2014 Millikin Summer Piano Camp, designed for advanced high
school pianists, is hosted on Millikin's campus from July 6-12,
under the instruction of Dr. Silvan Negrutiu and Dr. Chung-Ha Kim.
The theme for this year's camp is the piano music of Romantic
composers. The Piano Camp will conclude with a student recital on
Saturday, July 12 at 11 a.m. in Kaeuper Hall.
