Women Earn Regional Basketball Honors

DUNBAR, WI —
On February 27, Lincoln Christian University (LCU) women’s
basketball traveled to Wisconsin to participate in the National
Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Div II Midwest
regional tournament. An important and highly anticipated part of the
tournament is the annual awards banquet that celebrate excellence
among the teams, name players to the all-region team, name the
coach-of-the-year, and recognize Academic All-Americans.

During the Thursday night banquet, two LCU players were
recognized for the all-region team. Junior guard Tatiana Colclasure
(Effingham, IL/Effingham High) was named to the all-region first
team. Colclasure led LCU in scoring this year with 462 points, a 21
points-per-game average, and with 98 assists. Senior guard Moriah
Kirkpatrick (Mt. Vernon, IL/John A. Logan CC) was named to the
all-region second team. Kirkpatrick was second in scoring and
assists for the Red Lions this year with 278 points and 86 assists.
Also acknowledged were LCU's three Academic All-Americans,
Kirkpatrick, Alicia Carson (Gobles, MI/Bloomingdale High) and Emily
Sheley (Lincoln, IL/Lincoln Community HS). The NCCAA honors scholar
athletes who have maintained at least a 3.4 cumulative GPA through
their junior or senior year.

Bowman was also awarded regional Coach-of-the-Year. Bowman led the
Red Lions to an overall record of 13-9 on the regular season and a
#2 seed in the regional tournament. Since January, the Red Lions
have gone 10-4 winning their last eight games in a row.
