In game one, Mott scored five runs in the eighth inning for a
10-6 victory. Lincoln tied it up in the bottom of the seventh
but had a potential winning run picked off third base with two
outs to end the game. Kyle Peden picked up the loss for Lincoln
College. Coach Thomas said: "We battled back in this game
after trailing, but too many little mistakes cost the close game
to get away from us."
Game two was another back-and-forth contest, with the Lynx
plating two runs in the top of the sixth to take a 5-4 lead.
Jakob Thomas came in for a two-inning save in his first
appearance of the season, and A.J. Jackson earned his first
collegiate win. Tyler Gudat picked up three more hits in this
game.
Coach Thomas said: "We again had to fight for every run and
eventually pulled out the win."
Lincoln College's record improves to 3-1.
The Lynx return to action March 22 with what will be their
toughest test in the early season as they will take on defending
national champion and preseason No. 1 Gloucester, N.J., at 9
a.m. and Community College of Rhode Island, which also is
receiving national votes in the preseason poll, at 11 a.m.
