[March 27, 2014]  Below is a copy of the minutes from the Jan. 8 meeting of the Logan County Board Animal Control Committee.

Animal Control Committee
Blue Room – Logan County Safety Complex
January 8, 2014

Present: Kevin Bateman; Andy Anderson Bill Martin; Dave Hepler; Jan Schumacher; Chuck Ruben

Absent: None

Guests: Pamela Meagher; Julie Parker; Kelly Cale

Mr. Bateman called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.

A motion was made by Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Ruben to approve the minutes from December 11, 2013 as printed. Motion passed.

Old Business:

1. Animal Control ordinance/policies: The committee discussed amending the current ordinance to address the number of animals that can legally be kept on a property. State law allows possession of less than six breedable female dogs without a license. Logan County currently follows this regulation. Additional discussion will take place on this topic next month.

New Business:

1. Vehicle bids: One submission from Landmark Ford was received from the advertisement for vehicle bids for Animal Control. It contained two options. Option 1 includes air conditioning, windows, power doors/windows and cruise control for $21,478. Option 2 is the base model with only the addition of air conditioning for $20,121. Landmark has also offered $1500.00 trade-in value for the current truck. A motion was made by Mr. Ruben, seconded by Mr. Martin, to approve the purchase of option 1, including a trade-in of $1500.00. Mr. Bateman abstained. Motion passed.

A motion was made by Mr. Ruben, seconded by Mr. Hepler, to pay the bills as presented for payment. Motion passed.

A motion was made by Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Martin, to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 7:39 pm.
