[April 26, 2014]  Leslie Starasta has been promoted to associate professor in her role as information services librarian at Lincoln Christian University, effective June 1.

Starasta was appointed to the LCU faculty in 1999. As information services librarian, she teaches information literacy throughout the university, covering all information platforms and modes of instruction.

In 2008, Starasta was one of only 30 participants in the United States and Canada selected to attend the competitive Association of College and Research Libraries Institute for Information Literacy workshop. In 2011, she was one of 40 Illinois librarians invited to participate in a nine-day training workshop with the American Library Association.

Starasta writes book, database and website reviews and is active in the Association of Christian Librarians.

She holds a bachelor's degree in English education from Illinois State University (1994) and a master's in library and information sciences from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (1999).

Her promotion to the rank of associate professor was the result of a recommendation process initiated by a committee of her peers. The provost and dean review requests for faculty promotion and, upon endorsement, send the committee recommendation on to the university president for final approval.
