Berry comes to LCU from the Bloomington/Normal area where he
serves as an area representative for the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes (FCA), overseeing 18 "huddle groups" and acting as a
resource to area coaches. Additionally, Berry has coached at
Bloomington High School, where he worked with their freshmen since
2008.
Berry is a graduate of Wheaton College, where he played and started
for four years. He was twice honored as an All-CCIW Conference
selection and was team Captain his junior and senior seasons. Berry
also brings some international experience as both a coach and a
player with Athletes in Action, with whom he played games and taught
clinics in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Holland, Belgium and
Mexico.
In his announcement, LCU Athletic Director Mac Ingmire said, “John
brings great experience to our baseball program and has the
resources to launch a new era of growth through recruiting and
athlete mentoring.”

Berry takes over for Interim Baseball Head Coach David Upchurch who
filled the vacancy during the 2014 spring season. Upchurch will
resume his position as Baseball Assistant Coach which he held for
two years prior to his Interim Head Coach position.
