 Video messages played from many of LCU's
missionaries from around the world illuminated LCU's global impact
in 70 years.
The celebration also featured Dr. Rondal Smith as keynote speaker.
Dr. Smith, an LCU alumnus and a 16 year professor and academic dean
for the school; also served as chairman of the founding board for
Pioneer Bible Translators. He and his wife Janice continue to work
with PBT in its global outreach, and as in Christian educators and
writers.
Dr. Smith's challenging message was taken from Rev. 5: 1-14 and
titled, "The Unfinished Task! Let's do it!" At the heart of the
passage is a future vision of worship before God in heaven. The
celebration recognizes the salvation of "men from every tribe and
tongue and people and nation," - Rev. 5: 9e, New American Standard.
 Other speakers on this day were Dr. Rochelle Cathcart, assistant
professor of intercultural studies, who offered the invocation; Dr.
Mike Nichols, professor of intercultural studies, and Dr. Rob
Maupin, associate professor intercultural studies, who gave the
benediction.
Today, LCU's mission statement says that it is a - "Christian higher
education community whose mission is to nurture and equip Christians
with a Biblical worldview to serve and lead the church and the
world."

 The school has had more than 16,000 students have
pass through its doors, and alumni "serve the Lord in all 50 U.S.
states and more than 165 countries." And, in one week, on Saturday,
May 17, its next graduates will enter the world.
LCU's three schools include undergraduate studies, adult & graduate
studies, and seminary; which offer "majors in ministry, missions,
Bible, preaching, business, intercultural studies and more."
In addition to the main campus in Lincoln and its online degree
program, the school has extension sites for degree and certificate
programs based in Bloomington-Normal at Eastview Christian Church
and in Peoria at Illinois Central College; as well as near
Indianapolis, and in Las Vegas, Nevada.
LCU is affiliated with independent Christian Churches and Churches
of Christ of the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement.
