							Obituary William A. 
							Rentmeister Sr., 81, of Chestnut, passed away at 
							12:40 a.m. Sunday May 4, 2014 at Abraham Lincoln 
							Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. William was born January 8, 
							1933 in Sangamon County, son of Kenneth and Lois 
							Gaul Rentmeister.  He graduated from Mount Pulaski 
							High School in 1951.  He served in the U.S. Army for 
							16 months in Korea from February 9, 1953 to December 
							9, 1954.  He farmed and worked at Allis-Chalmers in 
							Springfield until its closing in 1985.  He was 
							affiliated with the USDA for 40 years as a field 
							reporter.  William has been a member of the Mount 
							Pulaski American Legion Post #447 for 59 years and 
							has served as post commander.  He is also a member 
							of the Mt. Pulaski VFW Post #777 as well as a member 
							of the Chestnut Men’s Club and Clinton Elks. William married Linda Armstrong 
							on June 18, 1955 in the Chestnut United Methodist 
							Church.  He is survived by his wife Linda, son 
							William A. Rentmeister Jr. of Chestnut, daughter, 
							Susan Thorson of Streator, granddaughter Shelbi 
							Rentmeister of Clinton, grandsons Joel Thorson of 
							Bowling Green, KY, Adam and Erik Thorson of 
							Streator, granddaughter Anna Thorson of Streator, 
							step-granddaughter Brittiany Thompson of Kenney, 
							step great granddaughters, Sierra and Kinzey Sickles 
							of Kenney, brother Gary Rentmeister of Citrus 
							Heights, CA, and sister Doris Fehring of Sacrameto, 
							CA.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one 
							sister Vivian Nowick. | 
                    
					 
							Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday May 8, 2014 
							at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount 
							Pulaski with Rev. Rachel Stockle officiating.  
							Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. prior to 
							services.  Burial will follow at Steenbergen 
							Cemetery, Mount Pulaski where full military rites 
							will be accorded.  Memorials may be made to the 
							American Legion Post #447, Memorial Home Hospice or 
							to the Chestnut United Methodist Church.
