Send a link to a friend Saturday morning, volunteers
for the glass recycling program were kept busy. The group was
collecting glass near the west gate of the Logan County Fairgrounds.
The program is sponsored by the Logan County Joint Solid Waste
agency. LCJSW director Mitzi Rohlfs said it had been a very busy
morning and that one full truck load of glass had been hauled away,
and the glass was piling up for load number two. She said the first
load weighed about 7,000 pounds and she expected the second load
would end up with another 2,000 to 3,000 pounds.

Rohlfs said that in the area, there are many who save their glass
through the winter, and are anxious to bring it to the fairgrounds
			on that first day.

The glass collected is taken to the bottle factory in Lincoln for
disposal. Rohlfs said the factory has changed ownership recently.
The St. Gobain/Varallia Company has been purchased by international
glass manufacturer Ardagh. The new group she said is still happy to
take the glass and she anticipates Logan County residents will
provide the company with a good supply this year.
