			LINCOLN
			- Shawn Smith, Registrar at Lincoln Christian University (LCU), has
been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor, effective June 1,
2014. Smith joined LCU in 2006 as Assistant to the Registrar. In
January 2007, he became Associate Registrar which led to Registrar
just five months later. Under his administration, the Registrar’s
Office progressed from a paper-dependent department to an efficient,
online system of recordkeeping and communication. |

Smith is also a Designated School Official (DSO) of
the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Student and Exchange
Visitor Information System (SEVIS), as well as a Veterans
Administration Certifying Official. He holds a Bachelor of Science
in Bible and Christian Ministry from Johnson University – formerly
Florida Christian College (2000), a Master’s of Divinity in
Apologetics (2003) and Master of Arts in Church History and
Historical Theology (2005) from Lincoln Christian Seminary.
Smith regularly teaches in the School of Undergraduate Studies and
presents research and academic papers in the fields of Church
History and Historical Theology. He was a member of an
archaeological team in the summer of 2000, excavating the Abila of
the Decapolis digs. A fellow professor said, “Shawn’s passion for
teaching stems from a commitment . . . and concern for students to
understand Christianity as a way of life they can, and should, be a
			part of.”

His promotion to the rank of Associate Professor was the result of a
recommendation process initiated by a committee of his peers. The
Provost and Dean also review requests for faculty promotion and,
upon endorsement, send the committee recommendation to the President
			for final approval.

			mentor.”
