[May 21, 2014]  LINCOLN - Former Springfield High School (SHS) soccer standout, Katie Stuva, signed a letter-of-intent to join the Lincoln Christian University (LCU) Red Lions in the Fall of 2014. She will transfer from Eastern Illinois University to major in Intercultural Studies at LCU.

Stuva was a standout goalie for the Springfield Senators with 28 career shutouts and was credited with numerous game-winning performances for SHS in her last two years there. Stuva has played competitive soccer since the second grade with several organizations, including the Springfield YMCA and most recently the Hanson Rebels Soccer Club.

LCU Women’s Soccer Head Coach Todd Spellman is excited about Stuva’s signing, “Katie has exactly the right experience to fit our program right now. She is naturally strong and athletic and, even after taking a year off from the game, her tryout was exemplary. I was happy to offer her a scholarship to come play at LCU.”

LCU’s School of Undergraduate Studies is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and has been granted membership in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletetics begining August 2014. Founded in Lincoln, Illinois in 1944, Lincoln Christian University’s three schools – the School of Undergraduate Studies, the Hargrove School of Adult & Graduate Studies and the Seminary – share a mission to nurture and equip Christians with a Biblical worldview to serve and lead in the church and the world.
