            [May 28, 2014]
NORMAL - Registration is now open for
HCC’s Rocket Girls camp, a four-day session that teaches girls about
science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers. |

            |
Presented by the Challenger Learning Center (CLC),
Rocket Girls is for girls entering grades 4-8. The camp will run
June 23-26 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the CLC on the Normal
			campus, 1500 West Raab Road.
With the theme of Engineer Your Future Adventure, attendees will
engage in a variety of hands-on activities, such as engineering
challenges, computer programming, a space launch and do-it-yourself
			projects.

To learn more about STEM careers, attendees will have the
opportunity to meet and speak with female professionals. “We want to
get girls excited about STEM careers and get them thinking about
their futures,” said Susan Evens, Rocket Girls organizer. “At camp,
we can show them how cool STEM jobs are and how these women got
			their career going.”

Scheduled guests include Karolyn Young, Principal Director at The
Aerospace Corporation, Jennifer Eignebrode, NASA scientist from
Goddard Space Flight Center and Sarah Daugherty, Test Director at
			Wallops Flight Facility.
