Golden was a standout
at PORTA High with a .353 batting average and a .400 on-base
percentage in his final season. As an outfielder, Drew
displays impressive speed and the ability track difficult
fly balls down, something that LCU coaches were keen to
recognize and excited about as he contributes as a Red Lion.
Upchurch officiated
the signing and expressed his excitement for Golden’s
commitment, “Drew is just a great kid. He’s just the kind
of guy we want, a great kid, who can play baseball and
contribute to the campus in other ways as well. We’re
really glad to have him on board.”
LCU’s School of
Undergraduate Studies is a member of the National Christian
College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and has been granted
membership in the National Association of Intercollegiate
Athletics (NAIA) beginning August 2014. Founded in Lincoln,
Illinois, in 1944, Lincoln Christian University’s three
schools – the School of Undergraduate Studies, the Hargrove
School of Adult & Graduate Studies and the Seminary – share
a mission to nurture and equip Christians with a Biblical
worldview to serve and lead in the church and the world. For
