[May 31, 2014]  May 30 (The Sports Xchange) - The NFL suspended Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington on Friday for the entire season for a violation of the league's substance abuse policy.

The one-year suspension will cost Washington at least $3 million -- $2.9 million in salary and a $100,000 workout bonus.

New York Giants safety Will Hill lost his appeal and was suspended for the first six games of the 2014 season after violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

The Giants also made news with the release of quarterback Josh Freeman, who signed with the team during the offseason to compete for a backup spot behind starter Eli Manning.

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft told NFL Network that despite drafting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in the second round of this year's draft, Tom Brady is not going away any time soon.

"From my point of view, and I think for my organization, we believe that Tom has a lot of play left," Kraft said. "The way that he takes care of his body, the way he eats, the way he plays, the way he trains."

The Indianapolis Colts signed wide receiver Donte Moncrief. The Colts have signed all five of their draft picks.

Moncrief was selected in the third round (No. 90 overall) of this year's draft out of Mississippi.

The Baltimore Ravens signed third-round draft pick Terrence Brooks. Brooks, a safety taken 79th overall out of Florida State. The Ravens have signed all nine of their draft picks from this year's class.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed cornerback Quinton Pointer and waived cornerback Marc Anthony.

Pointer was signed by the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent out of UNLV in 2012. In two seasons, he had five tackles in eight games.

The Cincinnati Bengals released defensive tackle Ogemdi Nwagbuo under the waived/non-football illness designation.

Nwagbuo was inactive for the one game he was signed in time to play last season in the Bengals' wild-card playoff loss. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
