LINCOLN
- On Monday night, Lincoln Christian University (LCU) hosted the
men's basketball home opener against Central Christian College of the
Bible (CCCB) in front an enthusiastic crowd. As the clock wound down,
the crowd was up on their feet, cheering the Red Lions to their first
win this season, 65-59.

The first half was back-and-forth as the two teams traded the
lead. The score was tied five times and no lead for either team was
greater than four points. As time waned, LCU trailed by 3, but made
a run to go into the locker room even or up by a bucket with Anthony
Rush (JR/Peoria, IL)'s steal and lay up it looked likely. However,
CCCB threw up a prayer of a shot from nearly half court and
strengthened their lead to 29-25
Both teams come out energized in the second half and it took four
minutes for LCU to take back the lead. Again, the two teams traded
the lead until the closing 10 minutes when LCU held the lead and
didn't let go. Stretching the lead to its greatest point as the
buzzer sounded, LCU won by six in front of an exuberant home crowd.
Red Lions veterans Josiah Gordon (SO/Springfield, IL) and Anthony
Rush led with 12 points each, with Rush also leading in rebounds at
5. Rush and Grant Riehle-Moller (FR/Newark, IL) each had a pair of
steals.
