[November 10, 2014]  SPARTANBURG, SC – The Illinois State football team picked up its fourth win over a Top-25 ranked opponent with a 35-21 win over Youngstown State last Saturday at Hancock Stadium. That victory catapulted the Redbirds (8-1, 5-1 MVFC) back into the Top 10 of both national Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) polls announced Monday.

The Redbirds advanced five spots to No. 7 in the FCS Coaches Poll and moved up four spots to No. 8 in The Sports Network FCS Top 25 following their win over the Penguins. The Redbirds were previously ranked as high as No. 6 in both polls two weeks ago and have been ranked for nine-consecutive weeks.

For the eighth-straight week, seven Missouri Valley Football teams are ranked in the Top 25 in the FCS Coaches Poll and six MVFC teams are among the Top 25 in the Sports Network rankings. North Dakota State (9-1, 5-1 MVFC) fell to fourth, after suffering just its third loss since the start of the 2011 season for three-time defending FCS National Champion. The biggest jump in the poll came from Northern Iowa (6-4, 3-3), who jumped eight spots to No. 12 following the upset over No. 1 North Dakota State on Saturday.

The Redbirds are back on the road this Saturday, Nov. 15, as they travel to South Dakota (2-8, 0-6 MVFC). Kickoff at the Dakota Dome is set for 1 p.m.
