The history between these two teams is deep. Dating back to 2010
the Lady Toppers lost in the super-sectional on their home court to
the Lady Crusaders. In 2011 the Lady Toppers avenged that loss by
beating Springfield Lutheran in the semifinals of the state
tournament. In both 2012 and 2013 Mount Pulaski once again beat the
Lady Crusaders in the regular season while their paths did not cross
in the post season.
At the end of Tuesday night's contest it was Springfield Lutheran's
head coach Katie (Gilman) McCulley, herself a volleyball stand-out
at LuHi, who could walk away with braggin' rights, so to speak,
until these two cross paths again.
Whitney Nichols led the Lady Toppers with 8 kills and 10 digs
Tuesday night while fellow senior Maggie Olson had 15 assists. Maddy
Davis also chipped in 3 kills and Lilly Pickett and Emily Burge each
had 2 kills.

Mt. Pulaski's next opponent is PORTA Thursday night in Petersburg at
6:00 p.m. Coach Donna Dulle then takes her team to the Belleville
East Tournament this weekend in hopes of turning things around.
Mount Pulaski's record is still a respectable 10-3 despite two
losses where the team just appears out of sync.
