							Donald E. Whitacre, 74, of Lincoln passed away 
							October 9, 2014 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield.
							
 A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 
							p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Holland Barry and 
							Bennett Home. Funeral services will take place 
							immediately following at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday also at 
							the funeral home.
 
 Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
 
 Don was born July 13, 1940 in Lincoln the son of 
							Donald and Wanita (Gross) Whitacre. His life partner 
							was Mary Elston. She survives.
 
 Also surviving are his children: Robin Whitacre of 
							Lincoln, Dawn (Dennis) Wells of Lincoln, Shawn Kelly 
							of Lincoln, Jennifer (Tom) Sawicki of Lincoln, and 
							Shannon (Brandi) Kelly of Williamsville; 
							grandchildren Anthony Whitacre, Justin Whitacre, 
							Triston Steen, Tiffany (Jimmy) Washburn, Dustin 
							(Christina) Wells, Ryan Wells, Katie Wells, Grant 
							Kelly, Karsen Kelly, Marissa Booth, Molly Sawicki, 
							and Logan Sisk; his great grandchildren Connor 
							Wells, Olivia Wells, Gabriel Wells, and Keegan 
							Washburn; and his brother Jack (Sue) Whitacre of 
							Springfield. His dog, Ribbon, was his constant 
							companion.

							Don worked as a truck driver for over thirty years. 
							For the last five years he owned and operated Route 
							66 Sandwich Stop in Lincoln.
 Don was a past member of the Eagle's Lodge. Everyone 
							considered him their "go-to person." He was always 
							there to help anyone in need.
 
 Memorial donations may be made to the family and 
							will be accepted at Holland Barry and Bennett 
							Funeral Home.
