[October 13, 2014]  LINCOLN - Manhattan Christian College (MCC) came to Lincoln Christian University (LCU) on Saturday for a women's soccer matchup at11 a.m. With nearly perfect weather for soccer, the Red Lions were set to struggle in the match from the very beginning. Due to a series of injuries suffered by an already short roster, LCU had only nine players they could field on the day. The visiting Thunder from Manhattan, KS, had a full roster and fielded all 11 positions in an effort to put away the game. The two extra bodies helped as the Thunder overwhelmed the Red Lions to win, 8-0.

As MCC passed the ball around, and the Red Lions struggled to cover the Thunder players, it became apparent that the inexperienced LCU squad was going to struggle to mount any significant attack. As the first 20 minutes ticked past, the score remained 0-0. An inadequately cleared shot bounced back to MCC and they put it away out of the reach of LCU Goalie Katie Stuva (FR/Springfield, IL). Two more points went in for the Thunder over the next five minutes to give the Thunder the lead at the half, 3-0.

Adding five more goals in the second half came easier for MCC, after LCU pushed more defenders into the attack to try and get at least one goal on the day. Several more attacking options developed for LCU, but none of the resulting shots were a great threat on the Thunder goalie.

With fall break starting, LCU women's soccer will not be back in action until October 21sr. They will then travel to Milwaukee to meet Mt. Mary College.
