NHL game roundup: Jackets hang on to top Flames

 COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Blue Jackets took a 3-0 lead against the Calgary Flames and survived a late push to claim a 3-2 win at Nationwide Arena on Friday.

Jack Skille, Ryan Johansen and Matt Calvert scored for Columbus while Mark Letestu had two assists.

The Flames scored both of their goals in the third period by Mason Raymond and Josh Jooris, who was making his NHL debut.

Columbus goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky made 29 saves in the win while his Calgary counterpart,

Karri Ramo, made 23 saves, suffering his first loss of the season.

Panthers 1, Sabres 0

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Roberto Luongo made 26 saves to lead Florida over Buffalo.

Sean Bergenheim scored the lone goal for Florida in the second period.

Buffalo goalie Jhonas Enroth made 35 saves in the loss.
 


Red Wings 4, Maple Leafs 1

TORONTO -- Henrik Zetterberg had four assists and Johan Franzen scored two goals as Detroit defeated Toronto.

Gustav Nyquist and Justin Abdelkader also scored for the Red Wings while Mike Santorelli scored for Toronto.

Detroit goaltender Jimmy Howard stopped 23 shots while Toronto's James Reimer stopped 31.

Predators 2, Jets 0

WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne stopped 31 shots for his first shutout of the year to spoil Winnipeg's home opener.

James Neal and Mike Ribeiro scored the goals for Nashville.

Ondrej Pavelec made 25 saves for Winnipeg.

Canucks 2, Oilers 0

EDMONTON, Alberta -- Vancouver won a hard-fought matchup in Edmonton to remain perfect on the young season.

Edmonton extended its losing streak to a franchise record five straight games from the start of a season.

Radim Vrbata and Daniel Sedin scored for Vancouver while Ryan Miller made 28 saves for the shutout win.

Ducks 2, Wild 1

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Anaheim earned a win over Minnesota in a duel between netminders Frederik Andersen and Darcy Kuemper.

Anaheim's 25-year-old Andersen denied 26 of 27 Minnesota shots while Minnesota's Kuemper, 24, stopped 24 of 26 shots he faced in the loss.

Corey Perry and Andrew Cogliano scored for Anaheim and Jason Zucker scored for Minnesota.
