of Lincoln passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 1:21 p.m. at
Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. |

Obituary
Donald “Pete” May, 81, of Lincoln passed away
Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 1:21 p.m. at Memorial
Medical Center, Springfield.
Pete was born December 1, 1932 in Macon County; the
son of Carl and Geneva Woolums May. He married Judy
Mason on January 1, 1954 in Middletown, IL. She
survives him in Lincoln.
Also surviving are his children: Donald E. May Jr.
of Novi, MI and Tammy Rich Miley (EJ Miley Jr) of
Lincoln; one grandchild: Cade (Karry) Rich, Atlanta; one
great grandchild: Taylor Rich; one sister Connie
Madigan of Lincoln. Pete was preceded in death by
his parents and brother: Gary May.
Pete was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the
44th Infantry Division in the U.S. Army, member of
Crime Stoppers, worked at Illico Oil Company for 45
years, was a security guard at the Lincoln
Courthouse for many years, was a member of Law
Enforcement of Logan County in Lincoln, Mount
Pulaski, and Emden, an avid hunter, and was a member
of the Lincoln Christian Church. |
Services for Pete will be 10:00 a.m. Monday October
20, 2014 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln with Ron Otto officiating. Visitation will
be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday October 19, 2014 also at the
funeral home. A burial at New Union Cemetery will
follow the service where full military rites will be
accorded by the American Legion Post # 263.
Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society or
the American Heart Association.
