[October 21, 2014]  LINCOLN -  The Lincoln College Volleyball Team competed four times last weekend and went 2-2.

LC started the weekend strong on Friday evening by defeating Robert Morris Springfield in three sets (25-16, 25-22, 25-19).

On Saturday, the team participated in the Mid-West Athletic Conference touranment hosted by Lincoln Land Community College. LC started the day with a closely contested three set loss to LLCC (20-25, 23-25, 24-26).

The #3 ranked Parkland Cobras were up next and LC feel to them, also in straight sets (9-25, 17-25, 16-25). The Lady Lynx rebounded for their final match of the weekend to defeat Lewis & Clark College 25-12, 25-22, 25-22. Lincoln's record now stands at 14-11.

LC Head Coach Mark Tippett: "We certainly had a full weekend of volleyball. Our passiing game and offense were both on against RMU.

"We were in control throughout most of the match. The loss to Lincoln Land felt like a victory even though we did not win a set. That was due to how poorly we played against them the first time our team's met.

"We showed that we had improved greatly and were able to play right with a quick, offensive-minded team like Lincoln Land.

"In each set we got stuck in one rotation which made it difficult to win, but outside of those breakdowns we played some excellent defense and really hit the ball well. In the next match, we were overmatched by Parkland who made very few errors.

"They deserve their ranking and we were not very competeitive with them. Fortunatley, we were able to put that defeat behind us quickly and played a very solid match against Lewis & Clark. Overall, it was a good weekend for our team, and I am confident about our play as we head into the final weeks of the season."

Lincoln will host the Millikin JV team on Thursday evening for a 6:00 PM match. This event will be the team's Dig Pink night.
