[October 20, 2014]  LINCOLN - Hudson Shad returns for their 4th tour in the Midwest, which will include an appearance here in Lincoln October 23rd at the Lincoln Christian University Auditorium at 7 p.m. This exciting male vocal quintet will perform here as part of the current concert series sponsored by the Lincolnland Concert Association.

Hudson Shad was formed back in the 1900’s by modeling themselves after a famous German group called the Comedian Harmonists which had been popular in Europe prior to World War II. When Hudson Shad gave their German debut in 1995 they were hailed as the first equal heirs to the Comedian Harmonists, and this reputation still precedes them as they are welcomed with great enthusiasm as if the “prodigal sons” have returned home, not only in Germany but throughout Europe.

Between 1997 and 2006, Hudson Shad has performed 80 concerts under the auspices of local concert associations throughout the Midwest, doing thee different programs – “Comedian Classics”, “Magic Moments” and Cowboys of the Opera.

Now they are back…after the past few years of focusing on solo careers and performing Kurt Weill’s opera, “Seven Deadly Sins” throughout the world.

What sets Hudson Shad apart from other groups of the genre is their consummate professionalism and flawless musicianship, and their use of piano accompaniment rather than singing a cappella, as is very popular today.

While they still embody some of the repertoire of the Comedian Harmonists, they also maintain their originality by singing turns made popular by such other great vocal groups such as The Mills Brothers and the Revelers, and music by composers such as Stephen Foster. Each program will also contain some Classical pieces by Beethoven and Schubert. A completely well rounded program with something for everyone!

Tickets will be sold at the door on the night of the concert. Click here for Ticket prices for this show as well as season ticket information and upcoming events. http://lincolnlandconcerts.org/ticket-prices/
