Obituary
Alice Mae Grimsley, 85, of Lincoln, passed away
October 14, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center,
Springfield.
Alice was born March 13, 1929 in Lincoln, the
daughter of Frank and Pearl (Schmitgen) Howerton.
She married J. Paul Grimsley on June 29, 1947. He
preceded her in death in April of 1983.
Alice was the oldest member of the First Baptist
Church, Lincoln. She sang in the church choir for 30
years. She was a beautician for 25 years, worked for
the State of Illinois for 12 years and was a
grandmother at Chester East Lincoln School for 12
years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed travel.
Although family was the highlight of her life, her
greatest passion was sharing the love of Jesus
Christ with family, friends, and the community.
Cremation rites will be accorded and private family
interment will be held on Friday. October 24, 2014
at Zion Cemetery. Memorial Services will be held
Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at The
Congregate Building at The Christian Village with
Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Memorial donations may
be made in her name to the American Heart
Association. Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Homehas

Surviving are her children Larry Paul (Deborah Kay)
Grimsley of Alta Loma, CA. and Brenda Alyce Stout of
Lincoln; her grandchildren: Lucas (Aurora) Grimsley
of Hurst, TX., Marty (Danita) Steffens of Lincoln,
Laurence (Heather) Steffens of Lincoln, and Justen
(Andrea) Steffens of Lincoln; her great
grandchildren: Caleb Steffens, Connor Steffens,
Caelyn Steffens, Kayla Steffens, James Steffens,
Gabby Steffens, Ciara Steffens, Olivia Steffens,
Bree Steffens, Brendon Steffens, Ryan Steffens, and
Alex Steffens all of Lincoln, and Logan Grimsley of
Hurst, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her
husband Paul, and her brothers Fran Howerton, Bob
Howerton, Richard Howerton, Ray Howerton and Wayne
Howerton.
