7th grade girls basketball: West Lincoln Broadwell Lady Wolverines capture County title

[October 27, 2014]  LINCOLN - The 7th grade West Lincoln Broadwell Lady Wolverines captured the Logan County Championship this past Saturday in Mount Pulaski.

The Lady Wolverines first defeated CCS-NHM-ZLS (Carroll Catholic, New Holland-Middletown, Zion Lutheran combined) by a score of 54-5. Leah Schneider led all scorers with 16, Makayla Anderson contributed offensively as well with 10 and Asia Sales added 8. Asia Sales turned it up on the defensive end as well leading the team with 7 steals, Karissa Bowman worked hard and was able to grab 4 steals. Leah Schneider once again dominated on the boards with 8, as Tori Schilling pulled down 6.

With the win the Lady Wolverines had to face the Honeybears of Mount Pulaski for the Championship game.

The Lady Wolverines defeated the Honeybears by a score of 45-8. Leah Schneider led all scorers with 19 points as Madelyn Koehler provided 9 and Makayla Anderson 7, Anderson also hit the teams first 3 pointer of the season. Madison Orebaugh was quick with her hands and picked up 5 steals and Leah Schneider helped with 4. Schneider worked hard once again and pulled down 7 rebounds as her counterpart Emily Paulus helped pull down 5. Madelyn Koehler came alive with her passing ability and dished out 7 assist.

With these two wins the 7th grade Lady Wolverines are now 11-0.

The Lady Wolverines will be back in action on Tuesday night at Springfield Christian.

The next and last home game for the Lady Wolverines is November 4th against Springfield Little Flower, this is Pack the Place night. This is a great night to come out and watch both 7th and 8th grade teams as the Lady Wolverines have a combined record of 22-1.
