Parker, 88, of Lincoln, IL passed away at 6:55 a.m. Tuesday, October
21, 2014 at The Christian Village, Lincoln. |

Obituary
Zelma C. Humphress Parker, 88, of Lincoln, IL passed
away at 6:55 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at The
Christian Village, Lincoln, IL.
Zelma was born August 6, 1926 in Knifley, Kentucky,
the daughter of Richard and Mattie Cox Humphress.
She married Verlin Parker August 31, 1946 in
Clermont, IN. He preceded her in death on February
17, 2014.
Zelma is survived by two sons: Rick (April) Parker
of Rockford, IL; Jeff (Connie) Parker of Lincoln;
one daughter: Becky (Eric) Radecki of Greenwood, IN;
one daughter-in-law: Adella Parker of Lane, IL; ten
grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one
great- great grandchild. She is the last of her
immediate family. Zelma was preceded in death by
three sisters, four brothers and one son: Mike
Parker.
Zelma was a loving wife to her husband of 67 years,
Verlin, serving faithfully with him in many
ministries through the years, including Texas
Christian Church (Clinton, IL) and Lincoln Christian
College and Seminary. She was a caring mother,
grandmother and great grandmother who was completely
devoted to her family. Zelma had several lifelong
passions: looking after children, preparing meals
for her family, caring for flowers and animals,
singing the old hymns and writing poetry. |
She was a faithful member of Lincoln Christian
Church and the Christian Corner Bible School Class.
Services for Zelma will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday,
October 29, 2014 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home, Lincoln with Ron Otto officiating.
Burial will follow services at Zion Cemetery,
Lincoln.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday,
October 28 at the funeral home. Memorials may be
made in Zelma’s memory to Lincoln Christian Church
or The Christian Village.
