[October 31, 2014]  The Mount Pulaski Honeybears improved to 14-0 on the season with a 37-4 win over Lincoln Junior High School Thursday night.

The Honeybears jumped out to an early 7-0 lead on baskets by Ainsley Chandler, Skylar Hayes and Madison Thomas. The Honeybears offense was on a roll in the first quarter as Chandler hit for two points in the paint and Callie Anderson launched a three that was nothing but net. Hayes scored on a layup off of a steal to give the Honeybears a 14-0 advantage. The Trojans struggled early to get a shot off as the Honeybears defense just proved too tough to handle. Hayes would go on to score six more points on layups and sink a couple free throws to give the Honeybears a comfortable 22-0 first quarter lead.

The Honeybears started the second quarter with seven unanswered points, including Abigail Fitzpatrick's coast to coast layup. Finally with 3:31 left in the second quarter Jenifer Porlas sunk a basket for LJHS.

Going into the half, Mount Pulaski held a commanding 30-2 lead over the Trojans.

Fresh out of the locker room in the third quarter the Honeybears started right where they had left off. Thomas quickly sunk a three-pointer followed by Anderson's bucket in the paint for the Honeybears. Hayes would go on to hit a two from the corner and just like that Mount Pulaski was out to a 37-2 third quarter lead.

The only basket scored in the fourth quarter would be the one by Lincoln's Jillian Ruff. At the sound of buzzer it was Mount Pulaski the 37-4 winners over Lincoln Junior High School.

Skylar Hayes led the scoring attack with 18 points. Callie Anderson had 7 points. Madison Thomas chipped in 5 points. Ainsley Chandler contributed 4 points and Abigail Fitzpatrick rounded out the Honeybear scoring with 3 points.

Mount Pulaski plays on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. against host Carroll Catholic in the 8th grade Logan County Tournament.

The winner will play for the championship on Saturday at 1:30 pm. It is highly anticipated that a rematch between Mount Pulaski and West-Lincoln Broadwell could very well happen. But then again, it's basketball and anything is possible. Good luck to all the teams playing Saturday.
