As always the Lady Toppers first opponent of the season is
Williamsville and the two teams never lack excitement when playing
each other.
Tuesday night had fans on the edge of their hot seats as game one
was pretty much an even exchange point for point. A kill by junior
Maddy Davis would put the Lady Toppers up 25-24 but the Lady Bullets
would take advantage of a few Mount Pulaski errors , including a
dropped ball right in the middle of the back row that would give
Williamsville the 27-25 win.
Mount Pulaski would come back in game two with a little more
determination but would quickly learn these Lady Bullets were just
as focused.
Again the two teams battled back and forth with the Lady Bullets
hushing the crowd by taking a 20-19 lead.
A kill by freshman Emilee Burge would get the crowd pumped up and
give Mount Pulaski the 23-21 lead. Senior Whitney Nichols would slam
the door shut on the Lady Bullets with her game-point kill giving
the Lady Toppers the 25-21 win.
With sweat pouring, both volleyball teams hit the court for game
three. Thankfully this time Mount Pulaski put together a few short
runs that allowed them to cruise to a much quicker 25-18 victory.

With sweat dripping, Coach Donna Dulle was just relieved for the
girls to get the win. "Our chemistry was a little off tonight.
Alexandra Beckers suffered a concussion in an earlier practice and
we threw Emilee Burge in there. She did a great job along with Lilly
Pickett and Whitney Nichols." Dulle added, "Getting Maddy Davis the
ball in the front row is key for us and we need to continue to work
on that." Junior Maddy Davis led the Lady Toppers with 17 kills and
5 blocks.
Senior Whitney Nichols finished with 10 kills. Lilly Pickett had
3 kills and Emilee Burge had 2 kills. Senior setter Maggie Olson had
32 assists and 12 digs. Senior defensive specialist Elizabeth Allen
had a team-leading 15 digs. The Lady Toppers travel to Athens
Thursday night to take on the Lady Warriors.
