[September 05, 2014]  (Reuters) - Officers searching for a missing Florida boy discovered the bodies of four adults on Thursday near the home where the child was last seen, police said.

Pasco County sheriff's deputies were checking the Hudson, Florida home of 4-year-old Ismael Santisteban when they came across the bodies of two adult men and two adult women stacked on top of each other nearby, Sheriff Chris Nocco said.

"One of our sergeants saw something, smelled something that was very suspicious. At that time he saw there was numerous bodies piled up on each other," Nocco told a news conference.

The Tampa Bay Times reported that officers noticed birds circling above where the bodies were found.

Police were continuing their hunt for the child.

An amber alert issued for Santisteban, who has been missing since Aug. 28 and has special medical needs, stated that he could be with his 28-year-old father, Adam Matos.

Nocco said that deputies visited the home a week before in response to a reported domestic disturbance.
