Cardinals 3, Brewers 2
Yadier Molina and Kolton Wong had RBI singles as the St. Louis
Cardinals extended their winning streak to six games with a victory
over the free-falling Milwaukee Brewers.
Third baseman Matt Carpenter and left fielder Matt Holliday finished
with three hits each. Right fielder Jon Jay and Wong each added two
hits for the Cardinals, who finished with 12 hits -- all singles.
Seven of those came against Milwaukee right-hander Wily Peralta, who
struck out seven but hit two batters with pitches and was charged
with all three St. Louis runs in his six innings.
In his first start since June 17, right-hander Michael Wacha worked
three innings and held the Brewers to a run, three hits and a walk
with three strikeouts. Wacha returned from a stress reaction in his
shoulder blade.
The win moved St. Louis (77-63) four games clear of Milwaukee
(73-67) for first in the National League Central.

West to five games over the idle Oakland Athletics.
Angels closer Huston Street worked around back-to-back singles in
the bottom of the ninth, getting a flyout, a strikeout and another
flyout for his 25th save of the season, and 12th with Los Angeles.

Blue Jays 1, Rays 0 (10 innings)
Pinch-hitter Colby Rasmus broke a scoreless tie with a solo home run in
the 10th inning as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Tampa Bay Rays.
The first eight innings unfolded as a classic pitcher's duel, with Rays
rookie Jake Odorizzi tossing 7 1/3 scoreless innings and Blue Jays
veteran Mark Buehrle countering with eight innings.
The Jays (72-67) sent out John Mayberry Jr. to pinch-hit in the 10th
against left-hander Jake McGee, at which point the Rays (67-74) brought
