LINCOLN - Lincoln Christian University
will be hosting two very special seminars on September 11, 2014. Dr.
C. Christopher Hook, of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota,
will be speaking on the subject of “Bioethics: Why the Church Should
Care” and Ignite Church Planting, based in Chicago, will be
presenting “The Nuts and Bolts of Church Planting.” The public is
invited to both seminars.

Bioethics: Why the Church Should Care
Free & open to the public
Learn from internationally-recognized speaker and author, Dr. C.
Christopher Hook. This one-day seminar is part of the 2014 LCU
Bioethics Conversation sponsored by LCU Professor of Theology and
Church in Culture Dr. Robert Kurka. This first conversation will be
held at LCU’s Restoration Hall from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and is open to
the LCU campus community and the public-at-large. There is no
admission fee.
Dr. Hook will address important bioethical topics and how they
impact the contemporary American Church, including such issues as
the history of American eugenics and the eugenic future,
trans-humanism and human re-engineering, justice in medicine and
ethics, as well as “Progressive Christianity’s” engagement with
abortion and beginning of life issues.
C. Christopher Hook is an internationally-recognized expert in
biotechnology and bioethics, and is a frequent speaker at
conferences and seminars on these issues. He is the author/editor of
numerous articles, essays, and book chapters on biotechnology and
medical ethics. The founder of the Mayo Clinic Ethics Council, Dr.
Hook is presently Associate Professor of Medicine and a consultant
in hematology and internal medicine at the world-famous Mayo Clinic
and Mayo College of Medicine in Rochester, MN. He is a Senior Fellow
for the Center of Bioethics and Human Dignity and Adjunct Professor
of Bioethics at Lincoln Christian University. A returning guest
lecturer, Dr. Hook was the featured speaker for LCU’s 2008 James D.
Strauss Worldview Lectures. Hook is a graduate of Greenville College
(BA) and the University of Illinois College of Medicine—Peoria (MD).

The Nuts and Bolts of Church Planting
Fee charged & registration required
Ignite Church Planting is presenting an introduction to church
planting seminar designed to answer questions you may have regarding
starting a new church. The seminar will start at 9:30 a.m. and
conclude no later than 2:30 p.m. in the Charles Mills Administration
Building, room E1A. The seminar cost of $25 will include lunch for
attendees. Anyone interested in learning more about church planting
