This week the Abraham Lincoln Statue Committee members presented a miniature Abraham Lincoln statue to the Logan County Board. The county board purchased the statue in support of efforts to raise money for a life-sized statue to be placed on the lawn of the Logan County Courthouse. The statue depicts Abraham Lincoln as he delivers a speech on the steps of the courthouse in October of 1858, prior to becoming president.

According to committee member JoAnne Marlin, the goal of selling 30 miniature bronzes has been achieved. The committee has received funding through a grant, and with all efforts combined have raised the money needed for the full-sized statue. The group is now moving forward with plans to have a new statue in place early next year.
