The Lady Toppers started a little sluggish against the Bulldogs
until a perfect short set by Maggie Olson led to a thunderous kill
by middle hitter Maddy Davis and a 13-11 lead for Mt. Pulaski. That
kill not only awakened the crowd but also fired up the Lady Toppers.
St. Teresa though would continue to play tough and tie the Lady
Toppers at 18 all. Mt. Pulaski jumped to a 19-18 lead thanks to
junior Lilly Pickett's nice kill over the Bulldog defenders.
Tied again at 24 all a tip by senior Whitney Nichols put the Lady
Toppers up 25-24 and a hitting error by the Bulldogs gave Mt.
Pulaski the 26-24 win.
The Lady Toppers hit the floor for game two
with a little more confidence and thanks to less errors themselves,
the Lady Toppers jumped ahead 16-11. A kill by freshman Emilee Burge
gave the Lady Toppers a commanding 20-11 lead. Outside hitter Lilly
Pickett sealed the 25-15 victory with a kill down the line.
