LINCOLN - On September 20, 2014,
Anytime Fitness Lincoln will host the third annual fundraiser, “Woofstock,”
a hound and human festival for the Humane Society of Logan County,
from 10-3 at Latham Park.

The fundraiser will feature a raffle, live music, prizes,
informational booths, vendors, contests, and activities for kids and
dogs alike. Rib-eye sandwiches from Lincoln IGA will be available as
well as pulled chicken sandwiches from Nuthatch Hill BBQ. There will
be a “smooch- a-pooch” puppy kissing booth and many other fun
avenues to raise money for the Humane Society of Logan County. All
proceeds will be donated to the Humane Society of Logan County.
“Woofstock” is co-sponsored by Jake’s Home Furnishings, Sal Pollice
of Edward Jones Investments, Steve Harvey of Country Insurance and
Financial Services, Holland Barry and Bennett FH, Bennett Builders
and Lincoln Chrysler Dodge Jeep.
Contests are: biggest dog, smallest dog, cutest dog, ugliest dog,
and best trick. Animal contests begin at noon and will conclude
around 1:30. All individuals wishing to enter their animal in a
contest are urged to be at the gazebo at Latham Park at 11:45 a.m.
Prizes for each contest are immediately following each event. There
will also be events for kids including a hula-hoop contest and a
push-up contest. Those events run from 10-2 p.m. Prizes for these
events will be at 2:15 p.m.
“Woofstock” is a fun-filled, family friendly event for both the pet
and pet lover to spend a day together and raise money for the local
Humane Society. Pet lovers can come with their leashed pet to peruse
area businesses and vendors.
The mission statement of the Logan County Humane Society is to
prevent the cruelty, abuse, and neglect of animals, promote the
proper placement of animals through adoption, work toward the
solution of pet overpopulation, educate the public about the humane
treatment of animals, and aid in the return of lost animals to their
owners.

Anytime Fitness Lincoln, which is a state of the art 24/7
facility, is hosting the event. Owner Josh Slightom expressed
his excitement regarding hosting the event for the third year in
a row: “We are so amazed at the reception from the community
towards Woofstock. This year, so many people contacted us asking
how they could be involved. This really proves that philanthropy
is alive in Lincoln and the Logan County community. We are
honored to be able to help the Humane Society of Logan County
and feel that it is not only our part to keep the humans healthy
in Logan County, but also to work towards the betterment of its
animals. Thank you to all supporters and sponsors. Without them,
none of this would be possible.”
Bring your family and your furry friend to Latham Park on
Saturday September 20th from 10-3 and join us for smiles,
wagging tails, and the good feeling of supporting a great local
organization- the Humane Society of Logan County.
