[September 17, 2014]  LINCOLN - Kenneth E. Ebelherr, "Rabbit," 60, of Lincoln, passed away September 11, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by his family.

Visitation: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln

Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Obituary

Kenneth E. Ebelherr, "Rabbit," 60, of Lincoln, passed away September 11, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln. Funeral services will be 10 AM on Wednesday, September 17, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Ken was born May 1, 1954, in Mt. Vernon, NY, the son of Kenneth Benjamin Ebelherr and Marie Riedinger Ebelherr. He married Deanne Rivett on April 20, 1985.

Ken retired from the Lincoln Fire Department after 30 years of service where he achieved rank of Fireman, Lieutenant, Captain, and Chief. He was dedicated to his work and his fellow firemen. He was a member of Firefighter's Local 3092 and the Lincoln Firefighter's Pension Board. He was also a member of the Lincoln Elks Club. He previously served on the Chester East Lincoln School Board. He was an avid golf and baseball spectator and enjoyed American history. Above all else he was devoted to his family. Ken was a loving and dedicated husband and father.

Surviving are his mother Marie Ebelherr of Lincoln, IL; his wife Deanne Ebelherr also of Lincoln, IL; his children: Abby Ebelherr of Chicago, IL, Emma (Tim) Caldwell of Lincoln, IL, and Benjamin Ebelherr of Lincoln, IL; his granddaughter Claire Caldwell; his siblings: Doug (Debbie) Ebelherr of Lincoln, IL, Karen (Kevin) Lecouris of Hallsville, IL, Chris Ebelherr of Lewisville, TX, Beth (Steve) Dahm of Lincoln, IL, Paul (Kay) Ebelherr of Lincoln, IL, and Russell Ebelherr of Hackettstown, NJ. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Memorial donations may be made to the Lincoln Firefighters or to the Restless Leg Syndrome Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
