Obituary
Alan L. Hartwig, 68, of Lincoln passed away at 5:40
a.m. September 23, 2014 at Vonderleith Living
Center, Mount Pulaski.
Alan was born November 6, 1945 in Lincoln the son of
Paul and Ralpho Adel Shelton Hartwig. His parents
preceded him in death.
Alan is survived by a son: Austin Hartwig of
Lincoln; two daughters: Bobbi Hartwig of Dunlap, IA;
Katelyn Hartwig of Lincoln; one sister: Karol
(Robert) Richardson of Kenney.
Alan graduated from New Holland-Middletown High
School and Illinois State University with a BS in Ag
Education. He served in the 25th Infantry Division
(Wolfhounds) in Vietnam where he received a Purple
Heart. While serving in Vietnam, he was selected as
the enlisted aide to Ambassador William E. Colby.
Alan played fast pitch softball, and he was an avid
Cardinal fan. He was a farmer and a Polled Hereford
breeder. |
Alan’s wishes were to be cremated and cremation
rites will be accorded. There will be a visitation
Friday, September 26 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. There
will be no services held. Burial will be at a later
date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
Wounded Warriors Project.
