Visitation:  From 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home

Obituary

Charles "Fred" Myers, 75, of Middletown, passed away March 31, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday also at the funeral home with Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond Grove Cemetery, New Holland.

Fred was born December 2, 1939 in Gary, IN, the son of Charles Matthew and Wanda Mae (Cook) Myers. He married Karen Wiggins on May 6, 1967 in Lincoln.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from Lincoln Developmental Center after 36 years of service. Fred was a member of the Middleton Presbyterian Church and the Middletown American Legion Post 672. He was also a member of the Greenview Masonic Lodge Af & Am #653.

He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Illini fan. He was active in the church and enjoyed volunteering at the Logan County Food Pantry and for various other causes and organizations. Fred's first love was his family. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Funeral Directors

Surviving are his wife Karen Myers of Middletown, daughter Amy Marie DeCanter (David) of Mason City, son Jeffery Matthew Myers (Naoko) of Sherman, grandchildren Justin DeCanter, Kendra Kelly, Skyler Myers, and Reid Myers, and great-grandchildren Patrick Kelly and Mathieu DeCanter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial donations may be made to the Middletown Presbyterian Church or the Logan County Food Pantry and will be accepted at the funeral home.
