[April 14, 2015]
April
is Back to Baseball Month at the Atlanta Public Library, and the
Library is teaming up with the City of Atlanta to host Atlanta’s
first Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Contest. |
On April 18, kids are invited to gather at the Atlanta Baseball
Complex to test their skills at pitching with accuracy, hitting for
distance, and running with speed. The event is free and begins at 11
a.m. Participants may sign up in advance at the Library or at
the registration table on the day of the event. Participants MUST
present a valid birth certificate and have a parent sign their
registration form.
The contest is open to boys and girls. Girls and boys will compete
in separate categories and are eligible in four age ranges: 7-8;
9-10; 11-12; and 13-14. Winners of the local competition will
compete at the sectional level, and winners there will go on to
compete at Major League ball parks around the country. Finalists
will have a chance to compete at the 2015 All-Star Game.
The rain date for the event is April 25.
For more information, visit or call the Library at 217-648-2112.
