Venus Williams withdraws from U.S. Fed Cup

 Venus Williams will not participate in the Fed Cup due to a personal matter.

The USTA replaced Williams, 34, with 57th-ranked Lauren Davis, who joins World Rankings leader Serena Williams, No. 45 Alison Riske and No. 65 Christina McHale.

Italy has won four of the past nine Fed Cup titles.

The best-of-five clay court series is played at Circolo Tennis Brindisi.
