Obituary
Daniel W. Bock was born on November 9, 1942 and
joined the Church Triumphant on April 14, 2015 in
Venice, FL. He was the son of William E. and Emma
Bock and had two sisters, Mary Ann Landon of Crystal
Lake, and Lois (James) Dockery of Little rock, AR.
He married June Novak on June 6, 2009 and has one
stepdaughter, Stephanie Elder. Dan’s extended family
included many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and
friends. He split his time between Lincoln, IL and
Venice, FL as a resident of the Pelican Pointe Golf
& Country Club.
Dan graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960 and
received his Bachelor of Arts/Science in 1964 and
Master of Arts in Education in 1968 both from the
University of Illinois at Urbana. He was a member of
the AGR fraternity and continued to be involved in
his beloved alma mater through work with the
Illinois Alumni Association. He was a lifetime
member of the Fighting Illini Scholarship for the
President’s Council inducted in 1986, a member of
Alpha Tau Alpha Professional Agricultural Education
Fraternity since 1974, and elected to the Gamma
Sigma Delta society for high scholastic achievement
and service to agricultural science in 1972. Dan was
a fan of all things Illini and will be missed when
not in his usual season ticket seats at Basketball
and Football games.
Dan loved the land in Illinois—buying it, selling
it, appraising it and farming it. He had his real
estate Managing Broker License, was a state
certified General Real Estate Appraiser, Veterans
Administration Approved Appraiser, and acted as an
expert witness in Federal Bankruptcy and Circuit
Courts. He owned Bock & Associates Realty in
Lincoln, since 1975 and ABE Lincoln Appraisal
Service since 1977. He also acted as an Agricultural
Occupations consultant for the State of Illinois.
Dan became a member of the REALTORS Land Institute
in 1984 and earned the Accredited Land Consultant
designation in 1987. He became a life-long member of
the Institute in 2014. In his lifetime, Dan
successfully completed over 135 courses relating to
real estate above and beyond his formal education.
This dedication led to many accolades including a
place on the RPAC Wall of Fame at the REALTORS
building in Washington, DC. He was the recipient of
the National Land Broker of America Award of the
Institute in 1998 and was the chapter president of
the Illinois Number 11 in 1986. Dan also served on
the Board of Directors of the Institute 1989-2002.
If he wasn’t busy with real estate, Dan could be
found on the farm. He was an avid farmer with a
life-long love of farming. He was a farm land owner
who operated and managed Illinois farm land for most
of his adult life.
Dan had a passion for teaching and education. He
held a special teaching certificate from the U of I
and a special teaching and supervision certification
in Agriculture. He was also a certified professional
Standards Instructor for the National Association of
Realtors (NAR). Dan served as an instructor for the
farm section, NAR code of ethics, Parliamentary
Procedures, and NAR code of Ethics for Professional
Standards for the Realtors Institute of Illinois. He
was an Agricultural instructor for High School and
