[April 18, 2015]  LINCOLN - With the arrival of spring comes plenty of things to do in the garden. The same is true for the From the Ground Up Group of Lincoln, who is now preparing to do a little sprucing up around Lincoln.

The group will be hosting a Spring Cleanup Service Day in the city on Saturday April 25th from 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Everyone is asked to meet at Ray White Park at 2:30 p.m. and head on to the individual project sites at 3 p.m.

Students of Lincoln Christian University have volunteered to help with some of the chores that include cleaning out and weeding flower beds in the parks and city spaces. Other tasks that need to be done include scraping and painting benches in the downtown area and doing detail painting on the city's "Welcome" signs.

The From the Ground Up Group would like to see 6 to 7 persons per group, and would appreciate coupling the experienced persons as leaders and instructors, with those less experienced. For instance, if working on cleaning out/weeding flowerbeds, knowledge of what is a weed and what is a plant that shouldn’t be pulled would be helpful. If working on scraping and painting some may need guidance on what to do and how to do it.

At 5:30 p.m. the group will meet again at Ray White Park for hot dogs, chili, chips and brownies provided by the Local Impact at Lincoln Christian Church. There will also be fun & games and music. This will be an evening to share with the Ray White Park neighborhood and in appreciation of all the volunteers for the day!
