[April 20, 2015]  LINCOLN - Vernon C. Haseley, Sr. 88, of Lincoln passed away at 1:42 p.m. April 14, 2015 at St. Clara’s Manor, Lincoln.

Visitation: Saturday, April 18 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home

Obituary

Vernon C. Haseley, Sr. 87, of Lincoln passed away at 1:42 p.m. April 14, 2015 at St. Clara’s Manor, Lincoln.

Vernon was born June 10, 1927 in Lincoln, IL the son of Albert and Ida Leppin Haseley. He married Helen May January 17, 1954 in Lincoln. Helen preceded him in death September 28, 2009.

Vernon is survived by three sons: Vernon (Jill) Haseley, Jr. of Lincoln; David (Cindy) Haseley of Denver, CO; Mark (Kathy) Haseley of Lynn Haven, FL; five grandchildren: Amy, Laura, Kristin, Aimee and Kristian; several great grandchildren; one brother: Melvin (Nevie) Haseley and one sister: Lillian Heins, both of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers: Wilbert and Arthur Haseley, and sister: Velma Haseley.

Vernon was a retired farmer in Chester Township. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from Feb. 8, 1946 to April 18, 1947. Vernon was a former church Elder for many years; member of Lutheran Laymen’s League having served several offices; member of Aid Association for Lutherans serving as President four years; was co-founder of Zion’s Outdoor Live Nativity; on Board of Directors of East Lincoln Farmers Grain for 13 years having served as past president for four years; on Board of Directors of Beason Elevator; member of the Logan County Farm Bureau; served on Logan County Extension Counsel and was a member of the Lincoln American Legion Post # 263.

Services for Vernon will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln with Rev. Mark Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery with full military rites accorded by the Lincoln American Legion Post #263. Visitation will be two hours (9:00-11:00) prior to service at the funeral home. Services were entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorials may be given in his honor to Zion Lutheran Church or Zion Lutheran School of Lincoln.
