After an unexpected night off, the
Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles hope to begin their series
Tuesday. The opener of the scheduled three-game set was postponed Monday
after violent protests in Baltimore moved toward Camden Yards.

A makeup date wasn't immediately announced, and Major League
Baseball will decide by 9 a.m. whether the teams will play a day
game Tuesday after Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake declared
a citywide curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the remainder of the
week. "We feel like we made the decision that would provide us the
greatest possible security, in terms of protecting the fans, the
players, the umpires, everybody involved," MLB commissioner Rob
Manfred told reporters. "We're looking at every possible alternative
in terms of completing the schedule in a timely way and making sure
the games are played in a secure situation that's safe for the
fans." The Orioles were hoping to build off the momentum from their
highest-scoring output in more than nine years after an 18-7 win
over Boston on Sunday. The White Sox also have been riding high,
having won eight of their last 13 following an 0-4 start.
