Orioles 8, White Sox 2
The Baltimore Orioles took barely two hours to beat the Chicago
White Sox 8-2 in the first ever major league game not open to the
public.
In an eerily quiet Oriole Park at Camden Yards, just a few miles
from where rioters trashed, burned and looted only two nights
before, Chris Davis hit a three-run homer in the first inning and
starter Ubaldo Jimenez pitched seven strong innings as the Orioles
won their third straight.
The gates were closed to the public over safety concerns.

Rays 3, Yankees 2 (13 innings)
First baseman James Loney singled with two outs in the top of the
13th inning, lifting Tampa Bay to a 3-2 victory over New York, the
first win by the Rays in six meetings against the Yankees this year.
Loney's hit continued his dominance at Yankee Stadium, where he has
a .418 average (41-for-98).

Tigers 10, Twins 7
Miguel Cabrera had three hits, including two home runs, to help the
Detroit Tigers erase a four-run deficit and beat the Minnesota Twins
10-7.
Cabrera hit a solo homer in the sixth inning before launching a
two-run shot over the center field fence in the ninth. He also came
within a few feet of hitting another homer in the fourth, settling
for an RBI double instead.

Brewers 8, Reds 3
Ryan Braun homered twice, including an eighth-inning grand slam, and
first baseman Adam Lind and left fielder Khris Davis added solo
shots, lifting the Milwaukee Brewers to an 8-3 victory over the
Cincinnati Reds.
Milwaukee (5-17) hit three homers off Reds right-hander Michael
Lorenzen, who made his major league debut.

Astros 7, Padres 2
Colby Rasmus slugged a two-run homer in the fourth inning and the
Houston Astros beat San Diego 7-2 to complete a three-game sweep of
the Padres, who lost for the seventh time in eight games.
It was the sixth straight win for the Astros (14-7), who are 10-2 on
the road this season -- a franchise record for the first 12 games.

Pirates 8, Cubs 1
Right-hander Gerrit Cole improved to 4-0 on the season with a strong
six-inning effort as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Chicago Cubs
8-1 and salvaged the finale of a three-game series.
Cole, now 8-0 since Sept. 7, gave up one unearned run on three hits
and one walk while striking out eight.

Marlins 7, Mets 3
Right fielder Giancarlo Stanton drove in three runs and the Miami
Marlins beat the New York Mets 7-3 to take two of the three-game
series.
But the Mets (15-7) still lead the National League East. The loss
went to Bartolo Colon (4-1), who nonetheless extended his streak of
not allowing a walk to 26 2/3 innings.

Nationals 13, Braves 4
Right-hander Jordan Zimmermann pitched seven effective innings and
produced a momentum-changing three-run single to spark the
Washington Nationals to a 13-4 win over the Atlanta Braves.
Zimmermann (2-2) pitched seven innings, his longest stint of the
year, and allowed four runs, three earned, on eight hits and one
walk. He had a season-high seven strikeouts.

Red Sox 4, Blue Jays 1
Right-hander Rick Porcello ended a terrible run by his team's
pitching staff, allowed a run on two hits over seven innings, and
left fielder Hanley Ramirez tied a club record with his 10th home
run before May 1, leading Boston to a 4-1 victory over the Toronto
Blue Jays.
Porcello walked two, hit a batter and struck out six to help the Red
Sox edge the three-game series. His effort came after Boston (12-10)
surrendered 34 runs over the previous three games.

Indians 7, Royals 5
Jason Kipnis and Roberto Perez belted home runs and Danny Salazar
pitched six solid innings as the Cleveland Indians snapped a
four-game losing streak by beating the Kansas City Royals 7-5.

Cardinals 5, Phillies 2
A four-run rally in the bottom of the fifth lifted the St. Louis
Cardinals to a 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
After rapping out 15 hits and scoring a season-high 11 runs in their
previous game, the Cardinals (14-6) did most of their damage in one
inning, enabling Carlos Martinez (3-0) to win his third straight
start.
- - -
Mariners 5, Rangers 2
First baseman Logan Morrison went 4-for-5 with a tiebreaking two-run
double in the fifth as the Seattle Mariners completed a three-game
sweep of the Texas Rangers with a 5-2 triumph.
Right-hander Felix Hernandez (4-0) earned the victory and became the
Mariners' all-time leader in innings pitched. Hernandez eclipsed the
former mark of 2,093 innings logged by lefty Jamie Moyer over 11
seasons.
