Obituary
Bernice E. Stahl, 94, of Mount Pulaski, passed away
peacefully at 8:38 a.m. Monday August 3, 2015 at
Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.
Bernice was born on August 9, 1920 in Peoria, to
Philipp and Sophie Max Hoerr. She taught
kindergarten and first grade from 1940-1945 in
Peoria Heights. She started Zion Lutheran
Kindergarten and taught for 15 years. Bernice was
also a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mount
Pulaski, where over the years she had been involved
with Sunday school, belonged to LWML, and sang in
the choir. She married Carl Stahl on October 14,
1945 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on November
1, 2008.
Surviving are four children, C. Lewis Stahl of
Springfield, Christine (Russell) Price of Park
Rapids, MN, Gretchen (Duane) Nelson of Sioux City,
IA, and Carla (Michael) Kopec of Springfield. Also
surviving are two sisters, Shirley Gorenz of Peoria,
and Phyllis (Elmer) Johnson of Raleigh, NC, one
brother Max (Katherine) Hoerr of Peoria,
brother-in-law, Fred (Eleanor) Stahl of Mount
Pulaski, nine grandchildren; three great
grandchildren. |
She was preceded in death by her parents, two
sisters, Geraldine Peters, Marjorie Fehr, and
In-Laws Ed and Lois Stahl.
Private family services will be held at a later date
with Rev. Jonathan Buescher officiating. Burial will
be at Mount Pulaski Cemetery. Funeral Services are
entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Mount Pulaski.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or
Zion Lutheran School of Mt. Pulaski or Vonderlieth
Living Center.
