Kinsler ripped a 2-0 pitch from Ryan Madson over the left-field wall
after Jose Iglesias led off the inning with a single.
Martinez hit a three-run homer in the third and a two-run blast in
the fifth. He was batting .230 with one home run in 135 at-bats at
home this season entering the game. His last multi-homer game was
Sept. 17, 2010, for Boston.
Alex Wilson picked up the win, working out of a bases-loaded jam in
the top of the ninth.
Kendrys Morales and Omar Infante drove in two runs apiece for the
Royals. Drew Butera added a solo home run.
Dodgers 10, Phillies 8
PHILADELPHIA -- Zack Greinke suffered his worst start of the season,
but Los Angeles had his back in beating Philadelphia.
Greinke, who entered with a major-league-best 1.41 ERA, surrendered
a season-high six runs, five of which came in the first inning.
However, the Dodgers countered with 15 hits and a surplus of support
to improve to a season-best 16 games above .500.
Trailing 10-6, the Phillies threatened in the ninth inning with two
runs, but Domonic Brown lined into a game-ending double play as
Kenley Jansen saved his 21st game.
Cardinals 3, Reds 0
CINCINNATI -- Michael Wacha pitched seven shutout innings for the
second straight start and Kolten Wong delivered a two-run single in
the fifth, lifting St. Louis over Cincinnati in the finale of a
three-game series that was delayed one hour and eight minutes by
rain.
Wacha allowed four hits and two walks and had six strikeouts as St.
Louis avoided what would have been its second consecutive series
loss to Cincinnati, which hasn't happened since 2011.
Tony Cruz, inserted into the lineup to give Yadier Molina a rest,
delivered a RBI single in the fourth inning, putting St. Louis ahead
1-0. Wong lined a single to center in the fifth, driving in two more
runs as the rain persisted.
Nationals 8, Diamondbacks 3
WASHINGTON -- Joe Ross continued his impressive rookie season by
allowing one run in six innings and Wilson Ramos had two hits and
two RBIs as Washington beat Arizona.
Ross, making his seventh career start, gave up five hits and no
walks with seven strikeouts as the Nationals gained a split of the
four-game series and won for just the second time in the last seven
games. Washington is now 1 1/2 games behind the National League
East-leading New York Mets.
Ryan Zimmerman had a pinch-RBI double in the seventh inning and
Clint Robinson crushed a three-run homer in the eighth to account
for the Nationals' final runs. Bryce Harper reached base all five
times, with three walks and two singles.
Brewers 10, Padres 1
MILWAUKEE -- Matt Garza put forth his best performance in months and
Khris Davis hit two home runs to lead Milwaukee over San Diego.
Garza pitched seven innings and allowed only one run on a homer by
Melvin Upton Jr. and two hits. He walked two and struck out five in
his longest start since going seven innings on June 6 at Minnesota.
The Milwaukee offense made things easy, collecting 12 hits against
three San Diego pitchers. The Brewers put a run on the scoreboard in
the first inning, then added three each in the third and fourth
behind a three-run homer from Davis and a two-run double by Adam
Lind. Davis added his second home run in the eighth.
Blue Jays 9, Twins 3
TORONTO -- Edwin Encarnacion homered, doubled twice and had four
RBIs, Mark Buehrle pitched seven innings, and Toronto defeated
Minnesota.

Left fielder Ben Revere added three hits and three runs scored for
the Blue Jays, who won their fifth straight game while completing a
four-game sweep of the Twins.
Trevor Plouffe hit a two-run homer and Aaron Hicks added a solo shot
for the Twins, who lost their fifth in a row.
Yankees 2, Red Sox 1
NEW YORK -- Jacoby Ellsbury hit a tiebreaking home run in the
seventh inning, lifting New York to a victory over Boston.
Ellsbury began the game in a 3-for-23 slump and went hitless in his
first two at-bats against Boston left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez
(6-4). After singling off Rodriguez in the fifth, Ellsbury drove a
2-1 slider into the second deck in right field with one out in the
seventh.
Alex Rodriguez added an RBI double for New York, which won for the
13th time in 19 games since the All-Star break. New York won two of
three in the series.
Braves 9, Marlins 8
ATLANTA -- Eury Perez dropped a two-out single into shallow left
field to drive in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, and Atlanta
beat Miami.
With Daniel Castro at third base, Perez lobbed a pitch from Bryan
Morris (3-3) just in front of a diving effort by left fielder Derek
Dietrich. Castro began the inning by lining a single off the leg off
Morris, who rushed the throw and threw the ball wildly to first,
sending the runner to second.
Castro had three hits for Atlanta, while Perez and Jace Peterson
added two hits apiece. Adonis Garcia hit a two-run homer.
Cubs 5, Giants 4
CHICAGO -- Kyle Schwarber's first career Wrigley Field home run
helped lift Chicago to an early lead on the way to a victory over
San Francisco.
Schwarber went 1-for-3, walked, scored twice and collected three
RBIs as the Cubs leapfrogged the Giants by one-half game in a chase
for the second National League wild-card playoff spot.
Chicago led 5-0 after two innings, but two-run homers by Brandon
Belt and Brandon Crawford sliced the margin to one. However, the
Cubs' bullpen blanked San Francisco over the final three innings.
Astros 5, A's 4 (10 innings)
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Jed Lowrie hit an RBI double with two outs in the
10th inning, leading Houston past Oakland.
Altuve, who had three hits, lined a leadoff single off Edward Mujica
(2-4), stole second and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. Lowrie
lined an opposite-field double down the left field line to score
Altuve.
Houston rookie Carlos Correa went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, his
14th blast of the season. Brett Lawrie and catcher Stephen Vogt hit
solo home runs for the A's.
